Let me just walk you through what happened today. In order.
This morning, the U.S. military began a naval blockade of all Iranian ports. Peace talks in Pakistan collapsed over the weekend — apparently the nuclear issue was the sticking point that blew the whole thing up. So instead of diplomacy, we get warships.
Trump posted on Truth Social that any Iranian ship that fires on the U.S. or "peaceful vessels" will be "BLOWN TO HELL!"
Exclamation point included. Because of course it was.
Then He Went After the Pope
Pope Leo XIV — the first American-born Pope, for context — has been speaking out against this war. Calling it unacceptable. Saying innocent people are dying and someone needs to stand up and say there's a better way.
Trump's response was to call him "WEAK on Crime" and "terrible for Foreign Policy."
He also suggested Leo only became Pope because the Church thought an American would be "the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump." The man genuinely believes the Catholic Church structured its papal selection around managing him personally.
That is not the thinking of a well person.
And Then Came the Jesus Post
After all of that — the blockade, the "BLOWN TO HELL," the Pope attacks — Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself as Jesus Christ. Biblical robes. Light emanating from his fingers. Eagles in the sky. A crowd of admirers looking on.
I'm not making that up. That actually happened today.
The man started a war, threatened to sink ships, attacked the leader of 1.4 billion Catholics, and then posted himself as the Son of God.
All before lunch.
The Pope's Response
Pope Leo said he has "no fear of the Trump administration" and will continue speaking out against the war.
"Too many people are suffering today, too many innocent people have been killed, and I believe someone must stand up and say that there is a better way."
A Chicago-born Pope is showing more spine than the entire U.S. Congress. Let that land wherever it needs to land.
Bottom Line
There is a naval blockade in effect right now. Oil is over $100 a barrel. Iran has threatened to shut down every port in the region. The Pope is being attacked for asking for peace.
And the president of the United States posted himself as Jesus.
This is the timeline we're in. I genuinely don't know what else to say.
