Oil Just Hit $100. You're Going to Pay For This War at the Pump.

Oil crossed $100 a barrel today.

That's not a financial headline to scroll past. That's a number that's going to show up at every gas station, in every grocery bill, in every delivery fee, in every utility rate before summer.

Gas is already up more than a dollar a gallon since this war started. The national average is sitting around $4.13. Energy Secretary Chris Wright told everyone in March there was "a very good chance" prices would be below $3 by summer.

How's that looking now, Chris?

This Was Predictable. They Predicted It.

The administration knew this would happen. Analysts said it would happen. Every person who understands how global oil markets work said that a military conflict involving Iran — which sits on the fucking Strait of Hormuz, through which a massive chunk of the world's oil supply moves — would spike prices.

They did it anyway. And now they're acting like the consequences are some surprise.

It's Not Just Gas

Elevated oil prices don't stay in the gas tank. They ripple into everything. Food costs more because it costs more to move food. Products cost more because it costs more to manufacture and ship them. The supply chain disruptions from this conflict are already hitting fertilizer and food packaging. That inflationary pressure is coming.

The IMF chief has already said even after this conflict ends, global prices will take a long time to come back down. The damage is being baked in right now, today, as the blockade kicks in.

Who Pays? Not Trump.

Trump doesn't fill up his own gas tank. His people don't worry about whether groceries fit in the budget this month. The defense contractors are making money. The people betting on oil futures are making money.

You're paying for it. At the pump. At the register. In your heating bill. In every purchase you make for the rest of this year.

Bottom Line

A war was started. Oil is at $100. Markets are falling. The blockade that started this morning is going to make all of it worse.
